Having welcomed sailors from AYC at the start of the month to Orford for the OSC Junior and Youth Open Championships, a 24 strong team of junior sailors from Orford set out for a week of racing at the Aldeburgh Junior Regatta.
With many competitors sailing in more than one class of boat, each day was filled with plenty of time racing, and for many of the parents many an hour helping out on the slipway launching boats, crewing on ribs or even assisting on the bridge!
The club’s most experienced junior racers who have been training all year round in their RS Fevas found much success winning almost every race in the the Morning Gold Fleet and Afternoon Gold Fleet groups!
Our youth sailors who have moved up into Lasers this year also had some fantastic results across the week in a very competitive fleet and the Topper sailors found their way onto the podium in the Slow Handicap group as well. In the other Feva fleets there were also several podium and top 5 finishes from a number of boats and OSC also brought home more than their fair share of silverware when it came to the big trophies.
William Bonnett won the Panic Trophy for First Topper
Ella Bonnett & Pip Gibson won The de Quincey Cup for the Feva Gold Fleet
Sophia Pearce and Margot Orr won the Marshall Hatchick Solicitors Award for Best Spirit in a Feva Crew
Congratulations to all the OSC Junior sailors who took part in the event and many thanks to the families and supporters who helped make the event happen.
