Commodore James Tomlinson Thanked at AGM

08/04/2026

Members of the sailing club reflected on the many achievements of outgoing Commodore James Tomlinson at the AGM on April 4th, expressing their appreciation with a warm round of applause.

Since taking on the role in 2023, James oversaw a significant revitalisation of the club’s training programme, marked by the appointment of Matt and Miranda. The programme has since gone from strength to strength and is widely regarded as a great success, supported by investment in equipment including a new engine for Andren, refurbishment of Oscar, and the purchase of a new RIB, Roberts.

In 2024, the club celebrated its centenary year with a successful programme of events, including a ball, commemorative book, exhibition, and the introduction of a two-day regatta that continues to thrive.

During 2025, James also contributed extensive hands-on work around the club, using his skills as a craftsman and joiner to replace bridge windows, strengthen engine shed rails, and repair the pontoon following storm damage.
