Well four intrepid boats set out on a very pleasant day with, usually, a helpful wind. A few hours later we gathered in Titchmarsh Marina and had a celebratory “safe arrivals” drinks on Tequila. The evening continued with a meal at the Harbour Lights restaurant and the first night aboard boat this year.
Next day was a short hop to Shotley, where we were joined by Sea Shanty. Fortunately, there we no problems that needed remedying, it being the shakedown, except for Sea Shanty who had a burgee problem, they didn’t have one!
A chillier evening saw drinks on board Cornelia but we did manage the group BBQ.
Then home the next day, which was the normal struggle against tide and wind.
Three enjoyable days and no disasters.

Orford Sailing Club members have cruised to the Arctic Circle, as Far East as St Petersburg, South America, the Mediterranean and the Pacific. There have been numerous Atlantic crossings.
As well as busy, well supported, club cruises within the Thames Estuary and to Continental Europe, members of the club regularly cruise long distances and yachts carrying the Club’s burgee have been found as far afield as Arctic waters, South America and even as far east as Moscow.
