Cruiser Programme 2008

Now that spring is finally under way, it's time to get out our diaries and pencil in some sailing trips!

In response to feedback from members, the programme looks a little different this year. We've retained three events that have proved popular in the past: the River Orwell cruise in May, the Cruiser Race in August and the Blackwater and Ramsholt cruise in September. For the remaining trips, we will have a more 'ad hoc' programme. I've listed four weekends with suitable tides, and we will organise the details by email nearer the time when we know who's available and what the weather is likely to do.

I hope that you can join us on some of these trips. If you've not cruised with us before, you'll find us friendly and informal. If you'd like to find out more about club cruising, please get in touch.

The following weekends have good tides for weekend trips. We'll organise the details by email nearer the time, when we know who's available and what the weather is likely to do.

Snape Cruise, Sunday 3 August

Wayfarer 50th Anniversary Cruise and Snape Cruise. All welcome - briefing in the Clubhouse at 1030. HW Iken Cliff at 1529.

Cruiser Race and OSC Regatta Day, Saturday 16 August

Briefing in the Clubhouse at 0930, followed by the Cruiser Race for the Barry Cup at 1030

Blackwater and Ramsholt Cruise, Monday 1 September

Cruise to the River Blackwater during the week. Possible stops include Walton Backwaters, Pyefleet Creek, Heybridge Basin and West Mersea. Finish at Ramsholt on Saturday 6 September for the annual Club BBQ. Return to Orford Sunday 7 September. Details to follow.

Ramsholt BBQ, Saturday 6 September

If you can’t get away during the week, why not sail round to the Deben on Saturday and join us at the barbeque? Return to Orford Sunday 7 September.
